Wonder Curl Get Set Jelly and Butter Than Love Pudding Review

I love trying out new hair products, so, yes, I guess you could call me a “product junkie”. I recently got the chance to try a couple products from the line Wonder Curl, I was sent their Get Set Hair Jelly and their Butter Than Love Hair Pudding.

hair jellyCurl Get Set Jelly
2oz $5, 8oz $15, 16oz $25
Get Set Hair Jelly smooth’s, soothes and controls frizz without stiffness. Used with organic aloe vera which for many is a miraculous plant. In hair it is used to promote growth and revitalize hair. This jelly is also loaded with pro-vitamin B5 (panthenol) to strengthen your hair. Get Set Hair Jelly keeps your coils looking fresh and fabulous all day. Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe Vera) juice, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel), Phenoxyethanol, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Panthenol, Kosher Vegetable Glycerin, Alcohol denatured, Carbomer, TEA, Tetrasodium EDTA, Citric Acid, Polyquaternium 7, Fragrance

4oz $12, 8oz $20
Butter than Love Hair Pudding is an ultra-moisturizing hair cream. BTL comes in two flavors, Pudding & Whipped. Both will hydrate your natural hair without weighing down your curls. BTL Pudding is a light and fluffy formula that gives your hair shine and unbelievable softness. Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis, Leaf Juice, Castor Oil, Shea Butter, Acrylates/C-10 Alkyl, Acrylates, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin

I first tried these products on our flat twist with a flower twisted bun style. I applied the Get Set Jelly to each section before I twisted it. It turned out to have a great hold, the scent is floral-y, I suppose,  however I am not too keen on some of the ingredients that are on the list, such as EDTA and the artificial fragrance. (See a list of hair/skin care product ingredients to avoid).

side twists

I used the Butter Than Love Pudding for the twisted rose bun. This product does have the texture of pudding, the scent is extremely strong and I do not enjoy it at all. However, I did read on their website they now make this with a softer scent, and it is also available in unscented, which I would recommend.

I was really hoping for a great twist out, but we didn’t really get a good one at all:

I have not experimented further with the Get Set Jelly, I would like to use it for a wash n go, I will keep you posted on that. I did use the Butter Than Love Pudding for a wash n go, this is what we got:

SDC17136

SDC17135

It did leave her hair soft, it wasn’t stiff or crunchy but it didn’t really have a whole lot of definition. I do plan experiment more with these products, but I have to say that I do feel as though there are much better products out there for us, that is not to say that these products won’t work for you and your hair, this has just been our experience with them.
