Wash and Go Series: Curls of the World Defining Gel

July 1, 2012 By Brooke 10 Comments

This wash and go was done using Curls of the World Just the Flax Defining Gel. As with each wash and go shown in this series I washed, conditioned/detangled, then applied the product by raking my fingers through D’s hair in sections and let it air dry. The cornrows had been done on dry, stretched hair prior to the wash and go on the rest of her hair.

natural hair gel The Product:

Ingredients: Flaxseed Gel, Aloe Vera Juice, Glycerin, Rosemary Oil, Rose Essential Oil, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Potassium Sorbate (a natural preservative)

Scent: Almost no scent, very light, kind of sweet natural scent

Texture: Thick liquid, non-sticky gel

Price: $10.99 8oz

My thoughts:
I was pleased with these results, her curls were soft and well defined. Most gel give a stiff hold, are sticky and somewhat gooey, but this gel is more of a thick liquid, not sticky at all and did not make the hair stiff. Her hair stayed well moisturized throughout the duration of the day and the frizz was, for the most part, kept to a minimum. What are your thoughts? Have you tried this product or any products from Curls of the World?

I’m loving this series but I have a question. I just started reading your blog a few months ago and I noticed you say you “pine-apple” your daughter’s hair at night. How do you do this? Do you have a picture?

Hi Emmi, thanks for reading, I am glad you love this series. I will work on getting a post together that shows and explains just how this is done. You take the hair into a lose ponytail on top of the head and cover it at night to preserve the curls and keep the hair from tangling, hope that helps.

I just started using curls biz and I’m not so saitifsed with it. My hair type is a 3c/4a and when I first got my sample i washed it and did a twist out with the curls whipped cream and another time with the curls goddess glaze. After a four days I took out my twists out and applied the curls moisturizer to it. It was beautfiul but then the next day is was real dry and blah. I just received mixed chicks in the mail and will be trying that today. What about pink lotion? Is that good?
