DIY Hair Ribbon Accessories Tutorial

Welcome to this months hair carnival, where we are showing off our crafting skills and giving you a chance to win some items! Now, I have tried and failed miserably at making boutique style hair bows and even just simple hair bows to be honest. But I have seen fancy hair accessories made from ribbon and ponytail holders on sell for $5+ and though, I could make those! They are very simple to make and I’m going to show you how!

DIY Hair Ribbon Accessories Tutorial

Materials used:

  • Ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Black Metal-less ponytail holders
  • Lighter (used to seal the edges of the ribbon to prevent fraying)
  • Sewing Needle
  • Thread
  • Hot Glue Gun

Lay out your evenly cut pieces of ribbon:

Take a needle and thread the pieces of ribbon together and attach them to the pony tail holder:

Take a piece of ribbon and tie a loose knot, like so:

Use the glue gun and/or tie it around the center:

Easy peasy! And I’ve made a few to giveaway too, I hope you like them! D said we should have 3 winners with each winner receiving 2 bows…so that is what we shall do.

De-Cluttering and Organizing My Product Stash

Not too long ago I came across a Winter Cleaning To-Do List on Newlywed Survival.  The article brought up a great point: since we spend more time in doors during the winter months, it makes sense that this is the perfect season to focus on cleaning, de-cluttering and organizing. One of the items on that to-do list is beauty products. This post motivated me to do some  de-Cluttering and organizing of my hair product stash and hair accessories.

Lilla Rose Flexi Hair Clip Review and Giveaway

LillaRose sidebar ad 150x150px b

The Lilla Rose Flexi Clip is an awesome accessory. I have seen them around online and have always wanted to try one and recently got the opportunity, thanks to Sarah. Lilla Rose has such a huge variety of Flexi Clips, it was hard to chose a style, but we went with the Princess Tiara design in small.
Flexi Clips come in different sizes from mini to extra large. I found their styling and sizing video very helpful when trying to determine what size I would need for the styles I had in mind for D.

When we received the our Flexi Clip, I couldn’t wait to try it out. I must admit I was skeptical about how well these clips would hold and stay in place, but seeing is believing, they hold the hair in place and they do not move. D has worn this clip a couple times it works well for half up styles on her and I have put my hair up with it as well…I love it!

The giveaway portion of the review is closed, there were 3 winners and 1030 entrants, visit our winners page to see who won.

Fun Holiday Hairstyles for Kids

Fun Holiday Hairstyles

Pretty much any hair do can be made into a “Christmas” or holiday hairstyle with the right accessories. Fancy updo’s for the holidays are nice, but what kid doesn’t love festive and fun holiday hairstyles. We changed up the classic Kai Lan inspired hair style and added some color that was perfect for Christmas. Disclaimer: I am aware that my cornrowing skills are still lacking… no one is prefect, right.

I decided to have her hair in one ponytail rather than the two buns.
