EcoLips, Natural Lip Balms

What girl doesn’t like lip balms? D loves them and I used to get her new flavor of lip balm almost every time we went to Wal-Mart, but those are chalked full of petroleum and mineral oil :( and they go on my babies lips! So, what did I do? I found EcoLips!

The concept of of this green company ultimately began in the kitchen of Andrea Danielson in the early 90’s. She would handcraft small portions of natural lip balm for her friends and family…from there EcoLips was born. EcoLips are petroleum free, palm oil free and made with organic ingredients when at all possible. While browsing their website I read this interesting comparison of natural vs organic:

The term “organic” can only be used on products that are grown and produced without pesticides, and other harmful chemicals.  Products that host the USDA Organic Seal are produced under the high standards set forth by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.  There is no legal definition of what the term “natural” means.  Natural foods can include organic foods, but not all natural foods are organic.  Look for products with the USDA Organic seal and you’ll be making the right choice for your health and the environment.

If you were ever confused about the differences between natural and organic ingredients, that is a great explanation.
My Review:
I got to choose 3 lip balms to try and was also sent the EcoLips Lip Balm on a clip. I chose to try the Rejuvenate Coconut Ginger, I let D pick hers, she chose the Dagoba Mint, I also let my mom choose one and she opted for the EcoTints in Sugar Plum.
The only complaint I have is that the Coconut Ginger balm also contains Lemongrass, which I wouldn’t mind, but it was a lot more prevalent in the flavor than the coconut or ginger. aside from that it is a great lip balm.
The Dagoba Mint is made with certified organic cocoa powder and has a hint of peppermint essential oils making it the perfect chocolate mint flavor/scent. It is amazing, D’s absolutely loves it, if she were any younger she would probably try to eat it, lol. EcoLips knows this and they actually have a Pure and Simple Line that is 100% edible lip balms, making them prefect for kids.
The SugarPlum EcoTint is one of their darker tinted lip balms, it is a great color for my mom, it has a nice shimmer and a light vanilla flavor, my mom is very much enjoying this. If you would like to see all the shades EcoLips offers in their tinted balms you can do so here.
Shop EcoLips store or request a full-size sample for a $2.00 shipping and handling fee. Connect with EcoLips on Facebook and Twitter.
